 10 year dream achieved

APPLE VALLEY • Dorothy Axelrod is able to inspire others with just the touch of her fingers.

Now, with the help and support of her husband, Ron Axelrod, she has released her debut album “Somewhere in Romance,” a collection of piano solos she hopes will inspire listeners.

“This has been a dream of mine for the past 10 years,” Dorothy said. “It’s an album of songs that I love. It’s the kind of music you want to sit down and listen to with someone special.”

After releasing the album through CD Baby, the largest distributor of independent music, the Web site contacted the couple asking for more CDs, having quickly sold out. The album was released on iTunes, Napster and Amazon last week.

“My love and my passion is teaching the piano,” she said. “It’s a big part of my life. It has always been gratifying and fulfilling to work with my students.”

But, because of Dorothy’s teaching and Ron’s real estate career, the couple had never before found the time to record her music.

“The timing was just never really right,” said Ron, “but when the (real estate) market fell out, I thought, ‘This is a perfect time to make it work."

The couple are already planning their next projects: a follow-up to “Somewhere in Romance” and an album featuring her trio "Jazz Plus".
